Wenchi Chen

Wenchi Chen has been the President & CEO of VIA Technologies, Inc. since 1992 and has overseen its transition from chipset designer to a leading developer of silicon chip technologies and PC platform solutions.

Mr. Chen's strong background in logic design, marketing, and business strategy has propelled VIA to be one of the foremost fabless semiconductor design houses in the world.

Prior to 1992, Mr. Chen co-founded and was President & CEO of Symphony Laboratories. He also held positions of VP Sales and Marketing at hi-tech start up ULSI, and senior architect at Intel Corporation.

Mr. Chen holds an MSEE degree from National Taiwan University and an MSCS from the California Institute of Technology.

Dr. Morris Chang
Founder & Chairman

Dr. Morris Chang has been the founding Chairman of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. (TSMC) since 1987. TSMC pioneered the "dedicated foundry" segment of IC industry and is the largest dedicated foundry in the world.

Prior to his career in Taiwan, Dr. Chang's career was in the United States. He was the President and Chief Operating Officer of General Instrument Corporation in 1984-1985, and prior to that, he was at Texas Instruments for 25 years (1958-1983), where he was responsible for TI's worldwide semiconductor business for six years.

Dr. Chang received his B. S. and M. S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from M. I. T. in 1952 and 1953, and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford in 1964. He received honorary doctorates from Chiao-Tung University, Ching-Hua University, and Central University in Taiwan and Polytechnic University in the U. S.
Dr. Chang was selected by Time Magazine and CNN as Top 25 of the Most Influential CEOs in 2001.

Tang Kai Choon

KC Tang began his career at Infineon Technologies in 1995 as a Marketing Engineer for the Memory Products Division in the organization.

In September 1996, he was promoted to Senior Engineer where he took charge of all Regional Key Accounts in Asia Pacific.

KC acquired the role of Senior Director, Marketing for Memory Products for Asia Pacific in January 2002.
Prior to working for Infineon, KC had worked for 2 years as a Sales Engineer specialized in PCB connectors and fiber optics products. KC graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He is happily married with a 5 year-old daughter and a 2 year-old son.

Toby Farrand

With over two decades in the technology sector, Chief Technology Officer Toby Farrand has long been a pioneer of digital applications that enhance consumers' lives. Farrand has driven technical innovations in the areas of audio, video, graphics and telecommunications.

Prior to the merger with Digeo, Farrand was vice president of engineering at Moxi Digital. Before Moxi, Farrand was president and chief executive officer of BroadLogic Network Technologies, which focused on using satellites to deliver IP data for consumer and enterprise applications. Farrand founded the company with funding from Intel, General Electric, August Capital and Walden and grew revenue from zero to $19MM in two years.

Prior to BroadLogic, Farrand founded and served as president and chief executive officer of CagEnt Technologies, Inc., sold to Microsoft in 1998.

Before CagEnt, Farrand was senior vice president of engineering and general manager of the Systems Division of The 3DO Company. Farrand led the development of 3DO's game console system, licensed to leading companies such as Panasonic, Toshiba, Scientific Atlanta and Samsung.

Farrand started his career at Apple Computer, leading the initial development of Apple's PowerPC computer line.

Farrand has a BSEE and MSEE from Stanford University.

With more than 20 years of field application engineering and marketing experience in the electronics industry, he gains an unparalleled authority on semiconductor industry with emphasis on memory devices (DRAM, SRAM etc.).

Various product marketing and promotion experiences in LG Electronics Inc. and LG Semiconductor Inc. under his belt, now in Hynix Semiconductor, he takes the lead of four business units (Main Memory, Graphics, Consumer and Mobile) in coordinating technical/ strategic marketing, DRAM business strategy and new product planning as well as product mix & promotion and customer support.

Jeff McNaught

Jeff is widely considered the foremost spokesperson for thin client computing in the world. With the experience of hundreds of speaking engagements, articles, and press interviews, he is acclaimed for being an authority on the topic of thin client computing and is responsible for the worldwide communications and efforts for Wyse. Jeff spearheaded the development of the award-winning Winterm terminals and played an instrumental role in the creation of the Winterm line, the first Windows terminal to ship in volume. Jeff joined the Wyse team in 1987 after holding positions at ITT, Netexpress and Cromemco. He earned his MBA from Pepperdine University.

Dirk Meyer
Executive Vice President, Computation Products Group
AMD

Dirk Meyer is executive vice president of the Computation Products Group at AMD and has responsibility for all product development, manufacturing, operations and marketing in support of AMD's microprocessor business.

He joined AMD in 1996 as the director of engineering for the AMD Athlon (tm) microprocessor development program in Austin, Texas. In April 1999, Meyer was promoted to the position of vice president of engineering for the Computation Products Group. He assumed his current set of responsibilities in February 2001.

Meyer came to AMD from Digital Equipment Corporation, where he worked for nearly a decade and was co-architect of the Alpha 21064 and 21264 microprocessors.

Meyer's microprocessor industry experience includes tenures at not only AMD and Digital but also Intel Corporation. Over the years, he has been involved in the design of x86, Alpha, VAX, and embedded processors.

Meyer graduated from the University of Illinois, where he received a bachelor's degree in computer engineering. He also received a master's degree in business administration from Boston University.

Mr. Sisto joined the Company as President and Chief Executive Officer and was appointed to the Board in June 1999. He was elected Chairman of the Board in January 2000.

Mr. Sisto was formerly Chief Operating Officer of RSA Data Security, Inc. from 1997 to 1999. He served as President, Chairman and CEO of DocuMagix from 1994 to 1997. From 1989 to 1994 Mr. Sisto served as the President and CEO of PixelCraft, Inc.

Mr. Sisto has also served in executive management roles at MIPS Technologies, Relational Technologies (INGRES), Intel, Honeywell, and General Electric. Mr. Sisto serves on the Boards of Directors of Hi/fn Inc., a semiconductor components company, and Tekgraf, a graphic arts distribution and service company.

Mr. Sisto earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology.

Elie Ayache
Director of Marketing, Timing Technology Division1

Elie Ayache is the Director of Marketing for the Frequency Timing Generator product line at the Timing Technology Division of Cypress Semiconductor. Elie has been with Cypress Semiconductor for over 3 years, having previously held marketing and engineering positions at International Microcircuits Inc. and Silicon Systems. Elie started as an ASIC designer for eight years, where he designed one of the first clock generators used in Personal Computers, the 386 platform. Elie has also designed one of the first EMI attenuation spread spectrum devices. Before moving to marketing, Elie managed an applications engineering group.

Elie earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) from Santa Clara University, California in 1987, and holds patents for clock management for "green PC" applications and for the strapping bi-directional pin, both widely used in clock designs and definition.

Eric Chang
Special Assistant to the President/Strategic Marketing Director

Eric Chang is Special Assistant to the President and Strategic Marketing Director of VIA Technologies, Inc., with a primary focus on market and product development in server and storage applications. Mr. Chang re-joined VIA this year from RedSwitch Inc., a startup company with InfiniBand products and advanced switch technology, where he served as Vice President of Marketing. From 1997-2001, Mr. Chang worked as the Strategic Marketing Director at VIA as PC133/DDR program evangelist. Prior to joining VIA, Mr. Chang had 10 years experience in PC system design and chipset architecture at Intel Corp., and held various marketing positions at S3 Inc. and ESS Technologies. Mr. Chang has been a pioneer of SMA architecture since 1996 and successfully brought several VIA SMA products to market. Mr. Chang has a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering and Product Design from North Carolina State University.

Kevin Deierling

Kevin Deierling has over 20 years experience in the design and marketing of complex semiconductors. With 8x8 Inc. he served as Marketing Director and later as Director of IC Development. He was a founder and VP of Engineering of Vidus Inc., which successfully developed H.323 audio and video compression products. He developed MPEG decoder chips at the Motorola/Philips Design Centre in the Netherlands. At Dallas Semiconductor he developed SRAM's, RF, and mixed signal IC's and worked as an FAE in Silicon Valley. At Motorola he worked in process, device, and BiCMOS design engineering. Kevin has over 20 patents and holds a BA in Theoretical Physics from Berkeley.

Mike DeNeffe

Mike DeNeffe has over 20 years experience in executive product and business management roles in the technology industry. Presently he is responsible for the hardware and software business lines for Wyse Technology. These businesses comprise over 90% of Wyse's revenue and is the largest thin client business line in the world. Prior to joining Wyse in 2003, Mike was Worldwide Director of Marketing for Transmeta Corporation. He has held executive marketing and business line management positions with Intel, NEX, Epson and National Semiconductor. Mike holds a graduate degree in business from Santa Clara University.

Badawi Dweik

Mr Dweik has over eight years of memory industry experience in the areas of design, product development and applications. Prior to joining Kentron, Mr Dweik was at IBM Microelectronics in the DRAM Product Engineering & Characterization Group. He worked on the development of various memory technologies such as EDO, FPM, SDRAM and DDR. Mr. Dweik joined Kentron six months after the company was founded and he has supported the development of the company's innovative products. He has been a member of the DRAM Development Standardization Committee at JEDEC since 2000. Mr Dweik has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (High Honors) from Northeastern University and a Masters in Business Administration from Regis University..

Susumu Hatano graduated from Cornell University, B.S., M.Eng. and joined Hitachi Ltd. in 1984. He had worked on DRAM component design & testing for 10 years and completed more than 15 products.

From 1994, he started working in Hitachi Semiconductor America where he developed memory system design & debug skills.

In 1996, he started a system solution group to provide total technical services such as memory system design/debug/evaluation/qualification for customers and to provide MCP solutions.

He has developed necessary MCP design and assembly technologies and developed 4 MCP products as well as working with chipset suppliers to enable DDRI reference design.

In 2000, he joined Elpida memory as the Hitachi-NEC joint company starts.

He is currently the executive manager of System Technology Gr., Marketing and Design Office, Elpida Memory, Inc. He identifies and develops key technologies for customers to smoothly migrate to new high performance memory. The system technology gr. provides customers with high speed memory bus solutions and also low power memory system solution such as mobile RAM.

Kurt Holman

Kurt Holman is the Division Marketing Manager for AMD's Desktop Microprocessor Business Unit. He has been with AMD for 3 years and during that time has progressed through the organization to now manage a team of marketing managers in the Customer and Market Development team. The primary role of this organization are to work closely with the various worldwide marketing and sales teams to maximize the opportunities for AMD design wins and provide compelling desktop platforms for end users. Prior to joining AMD, Kurt held various management positions with Dell for 6 years and AT&T for 10 years.

Terry Jean

Terry Jean jointed VIA Technologies Inc. in February 2002. Prior to join VIA, he was the BU head of Microprocessor and ASIC Division at Toshiba Electronics Taiwan Corp.
Terry has more than 15 years experience in embedded application across the variety of microcontroller to x86 PC platform.
He is responsible for promoting VIA Embedded Multimedia Platform at the current position.

Frank Jeng
Marketing Director for the Greater China Region

Frank Jeng is currently the marketing director for the Greater China region at VIA Technologies, Inc, and in this capacity is responsible for the planning and execution of VIA’s marketing strategies in China. Frank joined VIA in 1995 as a marketing specialist and was promoted to Manager of VIA’s Marketing Division in 1997, responsible for marketing in Taiwan and China. During the time when VIA was preparing to be listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, Frank was also the contact window for investment institutions, banks and investors. Prior to joining VIA he worked for World Peace Industrial Co. Ltd as a marketing supervisor responsible for strategic and channel marketing and for PC Week Magazine as a reporter and editor in chief.

Jeff Lee
Program Manager, Windows Hardware Innovation Group

The vision of the Windows Hardware Innovation Group is to redefine the Windows experience through integrated hardware and software innovation. Based in Beijing, Jeff is responsible for evangelizing Windows hardware technologies and managing their implementation via China's OEM partners.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Jeff worked at Lenovo, where he launched a multimedia home PC in China and managed the company’s PC business in Hong Kong. Before Lenovo, he was in charge of product management at iAsiaWorks, an ISP and hosting services startup based in San Mateo, California. He has also managed channel strategy at Silicon Graphics in Mountain View, California. Jeff began his career in high-tech as an engineer at Siemens Telecommunication Systems in Taiwan.

Jeff has an electrical engineering degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Steven S. Lee
Special Assistant to the President

As Special Assistant to the President at VIA, Steven Lee is responsible for both VNT and VEPD of VIA’s platform strategy as the PC transitions to new markets.

Steven trained as an engineer in both materials science and electronic engineering, gaining a Ph.D and D.Eng in Engineering from UCLA. Prior to joining VIA, Steven worked for over ten years at AT&T/NCR Microelectronics Division in various managerial positions, before moving to Applied Materials in Santa Clara as Corporate Marketing Director, followed by over four years at Lam Research as Executive Deputy Managing Director. Steven joined VIA in November 2002.

Dr. Hungwen Li

Dr. Hungwen Li is a world-recognized expert in the field of switch fabrics, with a career that spans more than 20 years. He is a strategic visionary in all aspects of enterprise computing. Before joining Agilent, Li founded RedSwitch, a leading switch fabric start up that successfully delivered innovative InfiniBand technology to the server market. Prior to RedSwitch, Li spent over nine years in various management positions at HAL Computer Systems, culminating in the position of Division General Manager. Before joining HAL, he managed switch fabric research and development teams at IBM Research and RCA lab. Li is the author of several books, 70 technical papers, and holds a number of patents in enterprise computing.

Hungwen Li holds a PhD and MSEE from the University of Pittsburgh and a BSEE from National Taiwan University.

Florey Lin

Florey Lin is the marketing manager responsible for Agilent SMB storage products and ODM business development. He has 15 years of experience in server and storage networking, I/O switching, and disk drive industries. Before joining Agilent, he worked at Nortel and RedSwitch on 10G Ethernet, InfiniBand, RapidIO and PCI Express technology products. Florey Lin gained solid storage background in disk drive from Seagate, Cirrus Logic, and NeoMagic where he was a software designer for eight years. In this span of employment, he participated in various storage protocol technical committees in defining standard specifications.

Florey Lin received the M.S. degree in Computer Science from Arizona State University, and B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan Institute of Technology.

Dr. Gerry Liu

Dr Gerry (Shao-Hung) Liu is currently vice president of marketing and chief financial officer of S3 Graphics, an affiliate company of VIA Technologies, Inc. (TSE:2388).

Dr. Liu has been previously president of Trident Microsystems Videographics Division and co-managed its venture investment fund. Formerly a two-time entrepreneur prior to joining Trident through its acquisition of Omega Micro, Dr. Liu had been founder and president of two venture-backed companies, Knights Technology developing deep-submicron yield enhancement software and Omega Micro for mobile IC design, which were separately acquired by Electroglas (1997) and Trident (1996).

Dr Liu was a board member of Monte Jade Science and Technology Association, general chair of Sino-American Technology and Engineering Conference, past president and chairman of Chinese Institute of Engineers/USA and a founding board member and past vice president of Chinese Software Processional Association.

Dr Liu received his PhD in Computer Science from UC Berkeley, MSCS from University of Illinois, Chicago, and BSEE from National Taiwan University.

Bill Lu

Bill Lu is currently responsible for the marketing of Specialty DRAM in China. He has worked at Infineon Technologies North America for more than four years as a marketing manager. He was responsible for specialty memory technology roadmaps, product definition, and customer enabling and support in the North American market. Before Infineon, Dr. Lu held several technical positions at Texas Instruments, NEC Electronics and Trident Microsystems from 1995 to 2000. He received a Ph.D. in physics from Lehigh University, PA in 1994 and a Masters of Science degree from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 1987.

Kathleen Maher

Jon Peddie Research 

Kathleen Maher has worked as an analyst and journalist in technical fields for more than fifteen years. Maher is the Editor-in-Chief of Jon Peddie's TechWatch, an influential bi-weekly report, she has also authored several well received reports including the DVD Report 1999/2000, the Quarterly Report, the DCC Report and the CAD Market. Before coming to work with Jon Peddie, Maher worked as a journalist. She was a founding editor for several publications including the Austin Chronicle, a successful politics and entertainment magazine which has won several awards and has launched the careers of many notable writers in the fields of political journalism, entertainment, and fiction. In addition Maher helped launch Interactivity, a monthly magazine that was one of the earliest publications to provide information and tools to the creative community working in digital multimedia. She was Editor-in-Chief of Cadence Magazine, the award winning resource for CAD users. Maher is also a frequent contributor to several publications including Communication Arts and Computer Graphics World.

Steve Mosher

Dr. Jon Peddie

Dr. Jon Peddie is one of the pioneers of the graphics industry, starting his career in computer graphics in 1962. After the successful launch of several graphics manufacturing companies, Peddie began JPA in 1984 to provide comprehensive data, information and management expertise to the computer graphics industry. In 2001 Peddie left JPA and formed Jon Peddie Research (JPR) to provide customer intimate consulting and market forecasting services. Peddie lectures at numerous conferences on topics pertaining to graphics technology and the emerging trends in digital media technology. Recently named one of the most influential analysts, he is frequently quoted in trade and business publications, and contributes articles to numerous publications including as well as appearing on CNN and TechTV. Peddie is also the author of several books including Graphics User Interfaces and Graphics Standards, High Resolution Graphics Display Systems, and Multimedia and Graphics Controllers, and most recently contributed to Advances in Modeling, Animation, and Rendering.

Desi Rhoden

Desi Rhoden serves as Executive Vice President at Inphi Corporation (Think Fast), a company focused on high performance analog devices including Registers, PLLs, Advanced Memory Buffers, and Ultra High Performance Communication Devices. He is also President/CEO of Brite Sun Technology Inc., bringing technology and technology companies together.Desi is Chairman of the JC-42 Memory Committee and the past Chairman of the Board for JEDEC, the world leader in standards and technology development for the semiconductor industry. He also serves on the EIA (Electronic Industries Alliance) Board of Governors where he represents JEDEC.

Previously Desi was President/CEO of Advanced Memory International Inc.(AMI2), focused on the coordination and promotion of standard memory technologies and the infrastructure required by the memory industry.

Prior to AMI2, Desi was a Fellow at VLSI Technology where he also held several management positions. Prior to joining VLSI, he was a Scientist at Hewlett Packard.

Desi has Bachelors and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering from Colorado State University.When not traveling, Desi resides in Austin Texas, where he enjoys running, hiking and cutting cedar.

Rahul Sood
